Durian

  1. Okay, what the heck is a durian, and is it okay for me to be afraid of it? 'Cause all I'm seeing is an alien belly full of spawn, here.

  2. You pretty much got it, except that the spawn smells like crap.

  3. It is a polarizer. You'll either love it or hate it.

    Nature's delicious sewer custard :D

    I personally enjoy it.

  4. I'd love to see an upright view of this, instead of slanted.

  6. Awesome stuff! Doesn't it look like a brain scan?

  8. Having recently tasted durian for the first time on a trip to Singapore and lived to tell the tale- I know why it's banned on public transport! It smells and tastes like burnt vomit. I'm not surprised that even it's MRI images are disturbing.

  9. There's Durian lovers and Durian haters out there.

Personally, I hate the stuff. Has a wonderful texture, but the smell and taste...ugh. If I remember correctly, the first Western guy who went over on a ship and saw a Durian and wrote about it in a journal wrote that it was 'like eating custard in a latrine'.

And that's a shockingly accurate way to describe Durian.

  10. Truly fascinating fruit, whether by distinct (for lack of a neutral term) aroma or by its peculiar structure. The MRI images are hauntingly somatic, perhaps a bit similar to a unicellular organism. It's giving me the chills just typing this!

Excellent work, as with the others!
